Seven persons rounded up in connection with murder cases

Shillong, Jun 24 (UNI) At least seven people were apprehended here in connection with two murder cases, one of which was committed two years back.

Police said here today that a criminal, who had been absconding so far, was arrested yesterday for murdering a person two years ago in upper Shillong.

In a confessional statement soon after his arrest, the accused said he had committed the crime with the help of two other accomplices.

Meanwhile, in another operation, police picked up six suspects from different pars of this town for interrogation in connection with the killing of a girl here on June 12.

Police suspected that that the criminals, involved in a sex racket, murdered the girl and threw her body in a drain at Mawlai area.

Meanwhile, the state administration directed the police to keep a close watch on hotels in the state capital where late night parties are held regularly.
