NPCIL chief stresses on nuke deal's importance
Chennai, Jun 24 (UNI) Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) Chairman S K Jain today said the Indo-US nuclear deal was important as it would not only help the Indian nuclear industry become part of the supply chain by joining the International Suppliers Group, but also fetch nuclear fuel for the country.
Talking to mediapesons after witnessing the lowering of the Safety Vessel into the 500 MW PFBR reactor pit at Kalpakkam, about 80 km from here, he said the industry was hoping for an early clinching of the deal to enable them to become part of the supply chain.
Dr Jain said the industry was euphoric about becoming a part of the global nuclear movement and of the supply chain and serve foreign markets.
He refused to comment on the Left parties opposition to the nuke deal, saying he did not want to enter into any politics.
