Jimi Hendrix guitar to go under the hammer

Washington, Jun 24 : The famous guitar that Jimi Hendrix set fire to at the London Astoria in 1967, is set to go under the hammer.

It is believed to be the first guitar that Hendrix set fire to, an act that would lead to it becoming his trademark, as reported by Uncut.

The 1965 Fender Stratocaster guitar has been in storage for 40 years and is expected to be auctioned off this summer.

The event was recalled by Hendrix's former manager Tony Garland, who had aided in burning the guitar.

"When I arrived there was a discussion about setting fire to his guitar," Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

"So I went and got some lighter fuel and let them do what they wanted to do.

"Jimi was sensational. I can still remember the way his hands moved across the strings. People can do the notes... it's how you play them, the individual," he added.
