AP to compensate farmers
Vijayawada, June 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the state government would pay Rs 5,000 to each farmer not covered under the Centre's loan waiver scheme.
Inaugurating an ethanol plant at Gandeballi village, about 40 km from here, he said the payment would be disbursed from the second week of July.
Quality seeds would be distributed to the farmers to improve production, he said.
The government had proposed to provide employment to the people in the coastal areas by constructing nine ports, he said, adding that UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi would inaugurate the Krishnapatnam port in July.
He said the government was planning to construct a four-lane express way between Hyderabad and Machilipatnam via Khammam.
