After ''little monkey god'', it's Hanuman statue for Obama

New Delhi, Jun 24 (UNI) After the ''little monkey god'', a statue of Lord Hanuman along with 'Hanuman Chalisa' -- sent specially from India will work as lucky charms for Democrat nominee in the US presidential race Barack Obama.

A group of Hanuman devotees have sent the statue and a copy of 'Hanuman Chalisa' to Mr Obama ''to ensure his victory in the presidential race.'' Brij Bhushan Bhama, an AICC member today held a prayer meeting to wish Obama luck in the elections. He later handed over the two items to Caroyine Sauvage, Chairperson, Democrats (India).

The 46-year-old senator from Illinois, who defeated his rival Hillary Clinton in an epic 17-month long electoral battle for Democratic party nomination, carries a tiny monkey god apparently representing Lord Hanuman with him for good luck.

A recent photo posted on Time's White House Photo of the Day collection shows the first ever Black-American nominee in the race to the White House carries with him a bracelet belonging to an American soldier deployed in Iraq, a gamblers lucky chit, a tiny monkey god, tiny Madonna and child.

The tiny monkey god, of course, appears to be a statue of the Hindu monkey god, Hanuman, says the posting but editors and the photographer have not identified it as such.
