500 BPL cereal bags seized from private mills; seven held
Sultanpur, Jun 24 (UNI) Police today arrested seven people and seized 500 bags of cereals meant for the people living Below Poverty Line (BPL) from two private flour mills here.
On the orders of marketing inspector J P Singh, BPL cereals loaded in three trucks were being taken to Shyam and Krishna flour mills, however, the deal was foiled as Kamrauli SHO Ramakant Yadav along with his team reached the spot, police said.
The police team arrested seven persons, including JP Singh, government godown guard Raneshwar Singh and managers of both the mills.
On a tip-off, police acted and seized the cereals bags bearing the seal of ''UP food corporation,'' Mr Yadav said.
However, investigations were underway to ascertain the source of other cereal bags lying in the two private mills, he added.
