45-year-old detained for student's murder

Kozhikode, Jun 23: Police today detained a middle-aged person suspected of murdering a class IV student at Cherandathur in Vatakara in Kozhikode district.

Police said Mayan, 45, was taken into custody for questioning after the body of nine-year-old Shahana, a student of Cherandathur M L P School, was found in his house.

They, however, said possible attempt of rape could be confirmed only after post-mortem tomorrow.

The body of Shahana, a student of Cherandathur M L P School, was found in a sack on the terrace of the accused house.
