Prisoner escapes from court premises

Patna, Jun 23 (UNI) An accused in the Satyendra Dubey murder case today escaped from police custody, when he was being escorted for production before a local court here.

Police said when Uday Kumar along with two other accused was being escorted for production before the court of District and Sessions Judge Vijendra Kumar Srivastav, he managed to scape.

The Court was to record the trio's statements today. The case was being investigated by the CBI.

Special Public Prosecutor L R Ansari said Uday earlier also had ebsconded from police custody, but was later arrested by the CBI.

Satyendra Dubey, an engineer of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), was earlier shot dead in Gaya triggering widespread protest and condemnation.

The case was later handed over to the CBI for probe.
