Lankan national arrested

Ramanathapuram, Jun 23 (UNI) Police today arrested a Sri Lankan national for staying in India without valid documents at Nagachi village near Uchchipuli here.

Police sources said during routine verification, it was found that M Mahendran (30), hailing from Kyets region in Sri Lanka, had been staying in the country without valid documents since 2005. He had not registered his name at the refugees' camp here, the sources said.

He was booked under Indian Passport Act.

Interrogation was on to find out if the arrested had any link with the banned LTTE.
