Former SIMI president held for sedition in UP
Lucknow, Jun 23 (UNI) The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh police today arrested former state president of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), Human Ahmed alias Humayun, in Gorakhpur.
The SIMI activist was evading arrest since 2001, when the organisation was banned, said State Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Brijlal.
Humam was nailed down last night from Gorakhpur in a case of sedition, which was registered in 2001.
The SIMI activist is a resident of Sultanpur district.
