'ACMEE 2008' concludes
Chennai, Jun 23 (UNI) As many as 428 companies, including 42 from abroad, participated in ACMEE 2008, eighth biennial edition of the International Auto Components and Machine Tools Exhibition, which concluded here today.
The five-day engineering exhibition, held at Chennai Trade Centre from June 19, was organised by Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association (AIEMA) and AIEMA Technology Centre (ATC).
Speaking on the occasion, Canara Bank General Manager R Prabha said as the Indian economy was witnessing an all time high inflation, the onus was on the Small and Medium Entreprenuers (SMEs) to cut costs and produce quality products.
Participants from other countries included China, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the UK and the US.
ACMEE 2008 Chairman Dilip Kumbhat said business worth about Rs 25 crore was transacted in the fair. Nineteen seminars, based on a theme 'Made in India,' were also held. The event was aimed at promoting the SME sector and the tie-up between industries and educational institutions, he added.
