9,415 Haj pilgrims selected from Maharashtra
Mumbai, Jun 23 (UNI) A total of 9,415 pilgrims from Maharashtra were today selected during an online lottery draw held at Haj House here in presence of religious scholars and committee members for the Haj pilgrimage this year.
The State Haj Committee had received 34,000 applications from the state. However, the committee had fixed a quota of only 9,415 on the basis of the population.
The maximum quota of 2037 was allocated to the Mumbai suburbs.
Sindhudurg was exempted from the draw as the quota for the district was 22 and only 19 applications were received.
