5 killed in freak mishap
Chennai, June 23 (UNI) In a freak mishap, five people, who were looking at a vehicle that fell from a road overbridge, were mowed down by a speeding car near Vaniyambdi in Vellore District of Tamil Nadu last evening.
Police said a Maruti Van ran out of control and fell from the flyover, about 20 metre high. Luckily, all the passengers escaped with minor injuries and they were admitted to hospital.
But fate could not be so cruel for five people, including three friends of the injured.
As they were having a look at the van by standing on the flyover, situated on the Chennai-BangaloreHighway, they were hit by a speeding car. All the five died on the spot.
The deceased were identified as Harish, Baskar, Sasikumar, Chandra Sekhar and Chilambarasu.
It was a quirk of fate as the friends of those injured in the first accident became the victims of the second accident as Harish, Baskar and Sasikumar, hailing from Katpadi had come to the Vaniyambadi Hospital to meet the injured.
They went to the accident spot to have a look at the vehicle when the tragedy befell them. The other two, Chandrasekar and Chilamabarasu, were passersby.
