I will mediate b/w Left
Chennai, Jun 22: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Saturday June 21 said that he will mediate between Left parties and Congress in an effort to resolve the crisis prevailing between them over the Indo-US nuclear deal.
He said that we have a duty to resolve the differences between Congress and Left parties as it is in the interest of the nation. He was addressing a function here. Karunanidhi said that the Left party leaders would be coming here on Sunday, June 22 to meet him, and after holding talks with them, he would leave for New Delhi to meet Congress leaders. He said his Delhi mission, however, was not to save the Congress or the Left parties but the nation.
Alluding to the BJP, he said any division between the Left and Congress would only pave the way for communal forces to come back to the centrestage. Karunanidhi had played a crucial role to bring together the Left and the Congress when the former threatened to pull out support to the latter on the nuclear deal issue.
Karunanidhi's proposed visit to New Delhi assumes significance as the Left parties have set June 25 deadline for the Congress to drop the nuke deal with the US.
