Hooda lowers road tax for autorickshaws in state

Rohtak, Jun 22 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced a bonanza for the autorickshaw drivers, which includes creating a new special tax by clubing road tax with passenger tax.

The chief minister also announced that the amount of road tax would also be reduced from Rs 700 to Rs 500 and the amount for a challan of one time would not be more than Rs 500 Addressing a state level function of the Autorickshaws Welfare Association here, Mr Hooda also announced that the fine on autorickshaws which was Rs 75 per week would also be reduced to Rs 25 per week. He also assured that the fine of those autorickshaws drivers who would deposit their remaining permit fee would be waived off.

He said in future the autorickshaw drivers would not have to pay an amount of above Rs 500 for a one time challan. At present this amount went upto Rs 5000.

Welcoming the chief minister, the president of Association, Tasvir Tank said that it was the first occasion in the history of the state, that a chief minister had accepted the invitation of the poor people of the society. He he announced that in future the autorickshaw brigade would be known as Hooda Brigade.
