GOC to export 3 locomotives to Benin
Tiruchirapalli, Jun 22: The Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) has entrusted the Golden Rock Railway Workshop (GOC) with the export of three locomotives to Benin, West Africa, according to GOC's Chief Works Manager S Rangarajan.
Speaking at a function after flagging off two modified locomotives for Nacala Railways, Mozambique, here last night, Mr Rangarajan pointed out that the works on the locomotives to be exported to Benin would be completed within four months.
He said the GOC had renovated 104 locomotives by making necessary modifications and installing special features to export them to countries like Malaysia, Tanzania, Myanmar, Sudan, Senegal, Mali and Mozambique.
The GOC had so far despatched 106 locomotives to various countries and earned a revenue of Rs 96 crore, he added.
