BJP flays UPA govt on inflation, blames others as well
New Delhi, Jun 22 (UNI) Launching a scathing attack on the UPA government, the BJP today blamed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav and Marxists for ''inhuman crime of inflation''.
BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said in a statement here that the Manmohan Singh government's policies were responsible for price rise but the Left parties which are supporting it from outside, the Samajwadi Party and BSP supremo Mayawati could not escape their responsibility for it by ''just enacting the drama of taking its support back''.
Riding on their support, the Congress government had made people suffer the unbearably high inflation. These parties gave blind support to the Manmohan Singh government to fulfil their selfish goals while the people suffered, he alleged.
''Today when the entire country is up against the Congress-led Central government and elections are near then the Marxists, Mr Yadav and Ms Mayawati are enacting the drama of taking their support back so as to escape their responsibility for the present situation.
But the people of the country would not forgive these culprits,'' he said.
Mr Naqvi alleged that by ignoring major issues like inflation and rising terrorism the Left parties, Mr Yadav and Ms Mayawati have extracted their price from the UPA government in return of their support.
However, with elections approaching and realising the UPA government's declining image these parties, in order to get rid of the blame, are enacting a drama, he alleged.
The people facing price rise and terrorism for the past four-and-a-half years would not spare these parties along with the Congress in the coming Lok Sabha polls, he added.
