Youth held for posting objectionable material on Orkut
Pune, Jun 21 (UNI) City police today arrested a 22-year-old youth, hailing from Hyderabad, in connection with posting of an objectionable material against Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Mahatma Gandhi on the social networking site 'Orkut' in December last year.
Police said the case was filed in Pune, following a complaint by one Amol Bhokare.
After investigations, the police asked Google, the company that runs the networking site, to locate the identity of the concerned person for posting the material on the site.
The company later forwarded details of the person using the e-mail Id.
The police then traced Nithin Chakravarti, who has confessed to the crime saying he used personal e-mail Id and posted the material from his personal computer at his residence.
A case under section 292 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 67 of the IT Act has been filed against Chakravarti, police added.
