Temporary 'pipa' bridge washed away
Bhind, MP, June 21 (UNI) A temporary 'pipa' bridge built over Chambal river has been washed away by strong currents of water in Ater area of Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, official sources said today.
The bridge, which is constructed every year in October, is dismantled in June. One 'pipa' involved in construction costs around Rs two lakh. A heavy vehicle such as bus could easily cross through this bridge.
According to sources, 23 'pipas' were washed away in strong currents but 18 were recovered.
This year 'pipas' were not removed as per schedule.
