Sonia as committed as Manmohan Singh on nuclear deal: Dasmunsi
New Delhi, June 21 : Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi has said that Congress President Sonia Gandhi is as committed to the Indo-US nuclear deal as Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
"Sonia as the head of the party is fully committed to the deal," Dasmunsi said in an interview to a local news channel.
However, he added, "There are attempts in the country by a section of the media to create a mischievous difference between Sonia and Dr. Singh." Dasmunsi said in coalition politics where the government is seeking support from others, such kind of confusion may come, but we shall not let down the Prime Minister.
"We stand firmly by the Prime Minister come what may the situation," he added.
The Minister also expressed confidence that the nuclear deal will cross the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) stages and will be given back to the US Congress before this year's end.
