Sapre award for journalist
Bhopal, June 21 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today presented the first 'Madhav Rao Sapre Puraskar' to noted journalist and chief editor of Hindi Daily 'Prabhat Khabar' Harivansh for his outstanding contribution to Hindi journalism.
Noted Gandhian thinker S N Subha Rao and 10 other personalities from different walks of the society were also honoured with ''Rajat Parv Samman'' on the occasion.
The award instituted by the city-based Madhav Rao Sapre Memorial Newspaper Museum and Research Centre was given on the occasion of its silver jubilee. It comprises a cash prize of Rs 21,000, a shawl and citation.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Harivansh said the honour was for the whole team of Prabhat Khabar, which after a small beginning, had grown to have seven editions, including in Kolkata, Patna and Ranchi.
Eleven noted personalites from diffent walks of the society honoured with 'Rajat Parv Samman' include: S N Subba Rao (Gandhian activist), Amritlal Wegad (Folk Culture), Ms Chitra Mudgal (Famous Narrator), Balkavi Bairagi (Poet and Thinker), Ms Gulvardhan (Folk Art), Anupam Mishra (Environment Thinker), Dr Shashi Rai (Education), Iqbal Majid (Urdu Literature), Ramesh Chandra Agrawal (News Paper Management), Rajkumar Keswani (Reporting), Govind Namdev (Film Media).
Two special awards were also given to Pramod Chaturvedi (Khandwa) and Ashesh Guru (Jabalpur) for heritage conservation.
