Mumbai, Jun 21 (UNI) City Youth Congress President Sunil Ahire today the ''opportunists'' should not teach loyalty to 'true' Congressmen, while criticising Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane.

Ahire, who was named by Mr Rane as one of the persons who created a ruckus at the Congress convention at Goregaon in suburban Mumbai on June 19, made the statement in a news conference here.

The Youth Congress leader said if he was the culprit, he would not have come in front of the media to clarify his stand.

''I have requested that a high-level inquiry by senior Congress leaders in this matter be held and let the truth come out,'' he said.

Mr Ahire clarified that when the ruckus did not stop even after the intervention of Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi's request, he was forced to 'throw' out the protestors with the help of his activists.

''Some of the newspapers carried my photographs and said that I was creating trouble at the venue,'' he said.

Some Congress activists had demanded the ouster of Mr Deshmukh and shouted slogans at the Congress convention, headed by Ms Gandhi, on June 19.
