No 'irregularities' in port land allotment: Ports Director
Kakinada, Jun 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Ports Director and Special Secretary (Infrastructure and Investment department) K V Brahmananda Reddy today denied any irregularities in the allotment of Kakinada port lands, saying the allotments were made strictly according to the guidelines framed by the core committee.
Talking to UNI here, he said the eligibility criteria was based on financial capability, ability to undertake the project, expertise and the port development. All the 54 companies and individuals who got the allotment fulfilled the criteria.
He said the rule was that only locals should be given the land allotment. While a majority of them got the sanction for the first time, few others, who were using the port lands on an earlier lease,were regularized.
He said the extent of land allotted depended on the requirement of the applicants.
He asserted that allotment of lands was made in a transparent manner by a special committee and there was no scope for any favouritism or irregularity.
