Major infiltration bid foiled, 4 militants killed in Kashmir
Srinagar, Jun 21 (UNI) Security forces today foiled a major infiltration bid when they gunned down four heavily armed militants near the Line-of-Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
A police spokesman said security forces guarding the border noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side at Gagaldara in the frontier district of Kupwara early morning.
When challenged and asked to surrender, militants opened fire.
The fire was returned and in the fierce clash four militants were killed.
The operation in the woods was going on when the reports last came in.
This was the second infiltration attempt since Defence Minister A K Antony visited the border area on June 17.
