Lady doctor held for female foeticide in Haryana
Chandigarh, Jun 21 (UNI) A lady doctor in Narnaul town of Mahendergarh district of Haryana was today arrested in connection with a case of female foeticide.
An official spokesman said a team of Health Department detected a case of female foeticide during a raid at the Janseva Hospital in Narnaul and registered cases against Dr Reshma Yadav, Sunita whose female foetus had been aborted and her husband Sunil under PNDT Act on Wednesday.
The doctor and Sunil were arrested and had been sent to judicial custody by a local court. However, Sunita was still in the hospital undergoing treatment after the abortion.
On getting information that a family had come to hospital for the abortion of the child, a team was constituted under the leadership of District Family Welfare and PNDT Member Secretary, which raided the hospital, the spokesman said.
The medicines and the instruments used in the abortion had been sealed and handed over to police, he added.
