Industrialist convicted for contempt of court
Dhar, (MP), Jun 21 (UNI) Managing Director of Jyoti Overseas Limited, Pramod Somani, has been convicted and sentenced to one month imprisonment and fined Rs 3000 for contempt of court regarding payment of increment to workers.
Labourers of Jyoti Overseas, based at Sezwaya of Dhar district, approached the Labour Court for payment of the increment. The court ordered the company to pay the difference from May 1997 till the date of judgement.
On the labourers' appeal, alleging that the company was not abiding by the court orders, Judicial Magistrate A K Kheria found the Managing Director guilty and convicted him to one month prison and imposed fine of Rs 3000.
