Four students killed and eight injured in wall collapse

Biharsharif, Jun 21 (UNI) At least four students, including two girls, were killed and eight others injured, some of them seriously, when the portion of a wall suddenly collapsed at Ghausnagar area here today.

Police said the mishap occurred when the students were passing by the wall on their way to their coaching centre. The wall suddenly caved in burying all the 12 students, aged between nine and 12 years.

Hearing the noise, local people rushed to the spot and rescued the injured students. They also took them to a nearby government hospital where two girls were declared brought dead.

Two other students later succumbed to their injuries, while the condition of at least four others having multiple fractures was stated to be critical, the sources said.

Incessant rain during the past few days had weakened the wall which was believed to be the reason for its sudden collapse, sources added.
