Fire in Shanker Acharya hill

Srinagar Jun 21 (UNI) Panic gripped the famed Dal Lake area last evening when fire broke out in the bushes of Shankeracharya hills.

People in the area raised an alaram as leaping flames could be seen from a distance of several kms.

A fire brigade official said the fire was noticed in the buses from Nehru park side.

He said three fire tenders were immediately rushed to the area and fire was brought under control before spreading to other areas.

About 100 trees were affected by the fire, he said.

This was for the second time fire broke in the area there.
