Assam flood situation improves
Guwahati, Jun 21(UNI) The flood situation in Assam, improved today with river Brahmaputra maintaining a falling trend.
According to a government bulletin, although the river has been flowing above the danger level in Dibrugarh and Nematighat but it has been maintaining a falling trend.
The ground situation in the worst affected Lakhimpur district has also improved, official sources said.
So far three districts-- Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Sonitpur have been affected.
Eight people have lost their lives in this wave of flood and 1,90,000 population have been affected.
The National Highway 52 at Lakhimpur is still under repair and the district has remained cut off. The Highway is expected to be repaired by Monday, the District Magistrate's office informed.
