Women separatists in Kashmir demand release of detainees
Srinagar, June 20 : The Muslim Khawateen-e-markaz, a women wing of the Hurriyat Conference staged a protest in Srinagar today and pressed for the release of Kashmiri prisoners in different prisons of the country.
Scores of women gathered at Lal Chowk and claimed that it was a violation of human rights and Kashmir issue could not be resolved unless the detainees were released.
Police arrested some protestors who were later released.
India blames Pakistan for stoking a bloody revolt in Kashmir since 1989.
Today a self-styled divisional commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) was killed in a joint operation by Handwara Police, Srinagar Police and 32 Rashtriya Rifles at Khaipora in Handwara.
