State Govts must take steps to control inflation: Sonia

Ujjain, MP, June 20: Defending Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the issue of inflation, Congress President Sonia Gandhi today blamed state governments for not taking strict action against black marketeers and hoarders.

''Several state governments are not reducing taxes and are putting the blame on the Centre,'' Ms Gandhi told a public meeting here. She said state governments must take stringent actions against black marketeers and hoarders and provide relief to the people. The Congress President added that the UPA Government understood the problem of inflation and was taking measures to control it.
