PMK in no mood to return to DMK fold, silent of future action

Chennai, Jun 20 (UNI) Ousted from the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) in Tamil Nadu, the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) is in no mood to return to the DMK fold as the General Council today welcomed the DMK's decision to remove it from the DPA.

An unanimous resolution adopted at the council meeting chaired by PMK president G K Mani, in the presence of Party Founder-Leader S Ramadoss said, ''We are neither rattled nor surprised at the DMK's decision.'' The DMK's decision was pre-meditated and timed the with an ulterior motive, it said, while strongly condemning the reason stated by the DMK for snapping ties with it.

The DMK had said the PMK was trying to indulge in cheap politics by frequently criticising the government on almost all issues.

''We totally reject the charge. The PMK has always raised issues concerning people in the development of the state,'' the resolution said, without disclosing the party's future course of action or its possible ties with other political parties.
