Mkt share of IA, Jet, GoAir declines in May
New Delhi, Jun 20 (UNI) Domestic air traffic grew by mere 9.01 per cent during Jan-May 2008 over the corresponding period last year.
However, the market share of Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and GoAir declined from 15.1 per cent, 21.6 per cent and 4.6 per cent in April 2008 to 14.8 per cent, 20.5 per cent and 3.9 per cent, respectively, in May this year, official statistics said today.
The market share of other airlines increased marginally or remain steady, a Civil Aviation Ministry release said.
During Jan-May 2008, the scheduled airlines carried 19.242 million passengers against 17.652 million in the corresponding period of 2007.
During May, the passenger traffic was 4.116 million with Jet Airways carrying 845,000 passengers, Air India (Domestic) 610,000 passengers, Kingfisher 592,000, Deccan 576,000, IndiGo 482,000, Spicejet 444,000, Jet Lite 352,000, GoAir 161,000 and Paramount 47,000.
In percentage terms, their share was Jet Airways 20.5 per cent, Air India (Domestic) 14.8 per cent, Kisgfisher 14.4 per cent, Deccan 14 per cent, IndiGo 11.7 per cent, Spicejet 10.8 per cent, Jet Lite 8.6 per cent, GoAir 3.9 per cent and Paramount 1.1 per cent.
