Bangalore, Jun 20: Bogged down by the infrastructure bottlenecks, Infosys is looking beyond Bangalore, the IT hub of the country. Talking to the sources in an exclusive interview here at the Infosys campus on Friday, the Director and Head, Administration, Education and Research T V Mohandas Pai said that Bangalore as a workplace has become impossible because of the infrastructure bottlenecks and the organisation has been looking at other cities like Jaipur, Kolkatta and Bhubaneshwar in the east for expansion.

He also came down heavily on past governments, which have been creating only clusters, but not an integrated development of the city. It may be recalled here that recently the Chairman and chief mentor of Infosys NR Narayana Murthy stated that Pune would overtake Bangalore soon. The statement has created turmoil in many quarters.

Commenting on the reported intention of government of India to establish over forty tier two IT cities in ten years, Pai welcomed the idea, but wanted a comprehensive plan for investment by the government. Infosys no doubt is looking beyond Bangalore to other sunshine cities for expansion.

"Infosys is hiring over 25000 people this year adding to the total of existing 91000 people. Bangalore campus has over 21000 people followed by 19000 in Pune," Pai added. The Indian second largest software company Infosys is looking at other sunshine cities beyond choking Bangalore.
