Haryana Sanskrit Akademi announces annual awards

Chandigarh, Jun 20: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda will confer the prestigious Maharishi Valimiki Award, carrying a cash amount of Rs one lakh, on Jai Narayan Yatri.

Haryana Sanskrit Akademi Director Rameshwar Dutt Sharma said the award would be presented on June 24 in the Sanskrit Litterateurs' Award function to be held at Haryana Niwas here.

Dr Sharma said the Chief Minister would also confer Maharshi Ved Vyas Award carrying a cash amount of Rs 51,000 on Bharat Bhushan Sanghiwal.

He said Mahakavi Van Bhatt Award, with a cash amount of Rs 51,000, would be given to Dr Virender Kumar Alankar while the Pustak Award, carrying a cash amount of Rs 21,000 would be presented to Dr Satyakam Acharya for his book 'Nari Gaurvam.' Sanskrit Kavya Sudha, a collection of verses, edited and published by the Haryana Sanskrit Akademi and compiled by Dr Sri Krishan Sharma, would also be released on this occasion.

The function would be presided over by the Education and Transport Minister Mange Ram Gupta, he added.
