Fresh case against Amarinder, his son

Patiala, Jun 20 (UNI) The Punjab Vigilance Bureau today registered a fresh case of disproportionate assets against former chief minister Amarinder Singh and his son Raninder Singh.

Vigilance Bureau (VB) sources said Capt Amarinder Singh's former media advisor B I S Chahal and his family friend Chetan Gupta had also been made accused in the case.

The case had been registered at VB office at Patiala on June 19 vide FIR number 28 under Sections 7, 8, 9, 13-1-D-E and 14 (13-2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and 120 B of IPC, the sources said.

They said the bureau had examined about 20 accounts of the former Chief Minister and found an accumulated bank balance of Rs 6 crore, whereas his income from all sources, during his tenure as Punjab Chief Minister (2002 to 2007), was Rs 1.6 crore only.

The sources further said Capt Singh had bought property in Patiala, Ropar, Goa, Delhi and Noida. He had also bought property in foreign countries including Swedan, England and Dubai.

Capt Singh and his son Raninder Singh Tikku had got blanket bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court in a disproportionate assets case filed by the bureau earlier.

The sources further said Capt Singh's wife Preneet Kaur was not made accused in this case, as her name was cleared by the Vigilance Bureau.
