Disband 'Salwa Judum' in C'garh: Bardhan
Raipur, Jun 20 (UNI) CPI national general secretary A B Bardhan today demanded that anti-naxalite 'Salwa Judum' movement in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh be disbanded.
''Continuing with the Salwa Judum movement despite unfavourable comments about it by the Supreme Court is unfortunate. Under this campaign, effort has been made to put up tribals against each other during the past three years,'' Mr Bardhan told a press conference here.
He called for creating an environment for facilitating the return of 50,000 people lodged in relief camps to their homes.
However, he admitted that security was the biggest hurdle in their return and said that the government must make adequate security arrangements to facilitate their return.
Replying to a question, Mr Bardhan said the CPI was considering entering into poll alliance with like-minded parties. It had identified 16 seats from where it would field candidates, he added.
