Court acquits 17 Shiv Sainiks in 1992 rioting case
Mumbai, Jun 20 (UNI) A special court today acquitted 17 Shiv Sainik in a rioting case of 1992 at Asalfa Village, Andheri in northwest Mumbai.
While pronouncing the judgement here, Metropolitan Magistrate R S Sharma acquitted all the 17 Sainiks due to lack of evidence and failure of prosecution to prove charges against them. Of them, five people had expired.
The Sainiks were arrested on charges of rioting and damaging public property on December seven, 1992, at Asalfa Village, Saki Naka.
According to Prosecution, after the demolition of Babri Masjid, on December seven, 1992, the Sainiks were allegedly involved in creating law and order problem in the city and damaged the property.
