Cong-BJP clash in MP town
Balaghat, MP, Jun 20 (UNI) Ruling BJP workers in Madhya Pradesh today clashed with their Congress counterparts who were demonstrating here against state Public Health Engineering Minister Chaudhry Chandrabhan Singh.
Police, while denying the Congress allegation of a lathicharge, said, ''mild force'' was exercised to bring the situation under control and there were no injuries.
The Congress workers were conducting a meeting in protest against Mr Singh's, who is also holding charge of the district, for alleged ''objectionable'' statement against UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi when a BJP workers' procession arrived on the scene. An attempt was made to damage some vehicles during the clash.
Meanwhile, state Congress spokesman Manak Agrawal alleged the BJP workers stoned their ''peacefully-demonstrating'' Congress counterparts.
