CM lays foundation stone for Airport in Shimoga

Shimoga, Jun 20 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa laid the foundation stone for the Rs 110-crore Greenfield Shimoga Airport which is expected to give impetus to the economic development of the region.

Speaking after laying foundation stone for the airport project the Chief Minister has said that the BJP government in the state would give equal focus to all the regions for the overall development of the state.

He said that government was keen to expand infrastructure facilities in the rural areas to achieve equitable development and reach its benefit to all. It would also helps to flow investment to all the districts in the state other than Bangalore, he said.

The Shimoga Airport which is being built by a consortium of Maytas Infra Limited, NCC infrastructure Holdings Ltd and VIE India Project Development and Holdings LCC, would be completed within 24 months.

The state government had acquired about 663 acres of land for the project and handed it over to the builders of the Airport.

The airport will help to ensure better connectivity and faster growth of the region and besides proving a boost to tourism in the district.
