BJP demands all party meeting on rising inflation

New Delhi, June 20 : Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh here today asked the government to convene an all-party meeting to discuss measures to check the ever rising inflation.

Singh alleged that due to faulty policies of the UPA government, prices of essential commodities are increasing day-by-day affecting the common man. He claimed that despite the favorable international conditions, inflation is on an upswing .

The inflation today reached a 13-year high of 11.05 percent for the week ended June 7.

Oil price hike and rising prices of food items have contributed to inflation.

Talking to reporters after being felicitated by a delegation of Gujjar leaders for the agreement reached in Rajasthan for a separate quota to the community in jobs, he admitted that due to some misunderstanding, the agitation got prolonged.

On Wednesday, a committee comprising the representatives of the Rajasthan government and Gujjar community agreed upon allocating five per cent reservation to the Gujjar, Banjara and Rabari communities collectively under special category.

The Rajasthan government also announced 14 per cent reservation to Baniya, Brahamana, Kayasta and Rajput under economically backward class among the upper caste categories.

Forty nine per cent reservation has already been allocated to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes in Rajasthan.

With the decision of 19 per cent reservation (five per cent to Gujjars and 14 per cent to economically backwards) of the Rajasthan government, the State has 68 per cent quota allocation.
