Bad weather suspends Amarnath yatra
Jammu, Jun 20 (UNI) The Amarnath yatra was today suspended due to heavy rains near the cave shrine and along the route of the pilgrimage in Himalayas, sources here said.
''No fresh batch of pilgrims was allowed to move to the shrine from Jammu in view of bad weather as heavy rains lashed here early morning,'' official sources added.
The routes from Pahalgam and Baltal towards cave have become slippery in view of the rain, which forced the authorities to suspend yatra to avoid any untoward incident.
The two-month-long Amarnath Yatra was flagged off from Winter Capital of Jammu and Kashmir on June 18.
