AP govt nod to establish separate agency for Tribals
Hyderabad, Jun 20 (UNI)Directing the Tribal Welfare officials to prepare a detailed project report within two months with focus on creating roads, drinking water facilities, Self Help Groups and Horticulture for the benefit of the Tribals living in Plain areas, Andhra Pradesh Chief minister Dr YS Rajsekahra Reddy today gave the nod for creating and establishing a separate Agency for Development of Tribals in Plain Areas (PATDA).
Dr Reddy directed the officials to utilize the services of private consultant if necessary. The consultant would also study and identify the habitations with more than 500 ST population in each habitation that would be considered for declaring as Gram Panchayats to ensure local self government and speedy development.
There are 9,737 exclusive tribal habitations in plain areas out of which 1,505 were having more than 500 ST population.
