About a dozen women activists of MKM arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jun 20 (UNI) About a dozen women activists of Muslim Khawateen Markaz (MKM) were today arrested by the police, when they were protesting against the transfer of forest land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), alleging Human Rights violations.

The MKM activists gathered at Press Enclave near Partap Park here raising slogans against the SASB, government and security forces.

They said it was a planned conspiracy to change the Muslim character of the state.

The activists, in chains, put themselves in a cage, demanding immediate release of all detenues languishing in different jails in and outside the state for years.

They also demanded the release of Mohammad Afzal Guru, facing the death sentence in the Parliament attack case, alleging he was framed in it.

The women activists also alleged that the graph of Human Rights violations has increased and youths are being tortured and put behind the bars without any fault.

They later took out a procession. However, when they reached near the official residence of Deputy Chief Minister, police swung into action and arrested a dozen of them.
