406 houses constructed under IAY in W Kameng in Arunachal

Itanagar, Jun 20 (UNI) Altogether 406 houses have been constructed in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh under Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) during 2007-2008. According to official sources, out of the total number of dwellings, 159 are constructed in Dirang block, 103 in Kalaktang, 63 in Nafra and 81 in Thrizino block, entailing over Rs 27,000 per unit.

Moreover, 186 houses were upgraded under the IAY during the period. Out of these, 50 were upgraded in Dirang, 57 in Kalaktang, 35 in Nafra and 44 in Thrizino. The unit cost per upgradation was Rs 12,500.

According to the District Rural Development Agency report, a total of 1,200 houses were constructed in the district under the IAY between 2003 and 2008. Sources further informed that all the 190 villages in the district would be electrified by 2010, benefiting around 80,000 people, under the Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutkaran Yojana (RGGVY), a central project under Bharat Nirman and Rs 82.5 crore has been earmarked in the plan outlay.

A 21.5 km 33 kv transmission line, a 64.3 11 kv line and a 174.25 km low voltage line would be erected, along with installing 296 distribution transformers and three 33/11 kv transformers.
