Wipro organises discussion on Green IT
Hyderabad, June 19 (UNI) Following the launch of Eco Eye, a corporation wide initiative on ecological sustainability, Wipro's Hyderabad campus organised a panel discussion on 'Is IT Going Green or Growing Green?' The discussion, organised for the benefit of senior management of the Wipro Hyderabad campus, primarily aimed at increasing awareness on Green IT, providing greater insights into its implementation, business benefits and challenges faced in implementation.
In a statement here, Wipro Technologies Vice-President and Hyderabad Centre Head, B K Krishnamurthy, said ''our attempt is to create an ecologically sustainable organisation and business.
As we move forward, we will continuously try to influence all our stakeholders and communities to move towards ecological sustainability.'' Green IT is becoming progressively more important in all walks of businesses, he said, pointing out that the theme would include understanding the evolution of Green IT, how it is significant within Wipro, what should be the priorities and how to maximise the energy-efficiency within the company.
Wipro campuses and offices have adopted ecological sustainable initiatives in energy, water, waste management and preservation of bio-diversity. In energy-efficient solutions, power saving initiatives for computer systems were in practice.
Awareness programmes were being created on use of paper and benefits of recycling paper.
