Sahara City construction: UP Govt moves SC

New Delhi, Jun 19 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has approached the Supreme Court against the Allahabad High Court order restraining Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) from demolishing unauthorised construction in Sahara City, Lucknow.

The Mayawati government, in its petition filed in the SC today, has alleged that the state government cannot allow unauthorised construction being carried out in Sahara City project and the order passed by Lucknow bench of Allahabad HC staying the demolition without hearing the state government is illegal and is liable to be set aside.

The Sahara group had approached the HC yesterday after LDA started the demolition of alleged illegal construction being raised by Sahara group.

The HC issued notices to the state government and LDA gave them three weeks to respond to the petition and in the meantime stayed the demolition.

The UP government is likely to mention the petition for an urgent hearing in the apex court tomorrow.
