Rajya Sabha candidates from Karnataka elected unopposed

New Delhi, June 19 : Former Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna and Anil H Lad from Congress and former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Ramajois and Prabhakar Kore from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha today from Karnataka.

Today was the last day to withdraw the nominations. Since there was no contest for the four seats, the candidates were elected unopposed. One of the Congress members was elected with the support from Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S).

In return Congress is supporting JD(S) candidate for the Council seat in the State.

The four Rajya Sabha seats fell vacant after the term of Prema Cariappa, M V Rajasekharan, Janardhana Poojary and Dr. Vijay Mallya expired in April.
