Poet Sagar Khayami passes away
Mumbai, Jun 19 (UNI) Famous poet Sagar Khayami passed away today in a hospital here after prolonged illness.
He was 70.
He was survived by his wife and three sons.
He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital since last five months after lung cancer was detected. He breathed his last this morning.
Khayami started his career as a clerk in Jamia Millia University in Delhi, after resigning from the post he started writing books and Urdu poetry. His books and poetry were widely read in India, Pakistan and other countries also.
The body will be taken to Lucknow by air, where the last rites will be performed tomorrow, his eldest son Mr Nadir told UNI.
