Nepal political parties to continue talks today
Kathmandu, June 19 : The three political parties including the Nepali Congress (NC), the Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) and the CPN (Maoist) will resume negotiation on power sharing today.
The meeting directed the three-party task force to prepare a final draft of amendment to the constitution and implementation of the peace accord.
According to Kantipur, the protracted meeting among the senior leaders of the three parties on Wednesday reached consensus over the issues of amendment to constitution and integration of armies.
A parties meeting held at Prime Minister and NC President Girija Prasad Koirala's residence in Baluwatar, agreed to form a special committee to prepare a framework for integrating the two armies - the Nepali Army and the People's Liberation Army.
"The special committee will comprise experts and representatives from political parties," said Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi.
He said the committee will decide the criteria and process of integration. The meeting agreed to complete the integration of the two armies in six months.
A proposal to amend the constitution is likely to be tabled at the Constituent Assembly meeting on Friday.
